Independent software from Fort Collins

Software you can understand, control, and trust.

Three focused apps built around real questions: what exact trades put my portfolio back on target and does the model support the plan, am I improving as a trader, and did that private information truly leave the PDF?

How the products are built

Different jobs. The same standard of clarity.

01

The data model is stated, not implied

Each product explains what stays on your device, what can use a network, and what a connected service may receive. The current products keep their databases or documents local.

02

The product does the explaining

Calculations, limits, verification results, and failure states are visible. You should not have to take a percentage, a risk score, or a redaction result on faith.

03

Pricing fits the product

The current apps are one-time purchases because that fits how they work. RangefinderInvest and CrucibleTrade licenses verify offline; Excise PDF is planned as one Universal Purchase through Apple.

The company

Built from questions one engineer could not stop asking.

Kalman Software is an independent software company founded by a retired electrical engineer who spent decades reshaping spreadsheets with Excel, VBA, Power Query, and Python until they answered the investing and trading questions he actually had.

RangefinderInvest and CrucibleTrade grew from those working systems. Excise PDF began when the founder's wife needed to remove private information from a PDF without buying an Acrobat subscription. Each started as the tool he wanted in front of him; each is now being made clear enough for someone else to trust.

Questions still go to the person who writes the code.
